At Meisterhunde, breeding Rottweilers in Melbourne Victoria has never been about simply producing puppies. After more than 35 years involved with the breed, we have learned that breeding a quality Rottweiler takes knowledge, experience, planning and a genuine commitment to the breed. Every breeding we undertake has a purpose. We look closely at the dogs we are considering — their pedigrees, bloodlines, structure, temperament, health, strengths and weaknesses — and then consider what each dog can contribute to the next generation.
German & European Bloodlines
Our breeding program is built around carefully selected German and European Rottweiler bloodlines, including imported dogs and imported genetics. We don’t choose a sire or dam simply because they look impressive. We look at the complete dog and the pedigree behind them, and consider how that combination can complement our breeding program.
Every Breeding Has a Reason
We believe good breeding starts long before a litter is born. When we plan a mating, we ask ourselves:
What does each dog bring to the breeding?
What qualities do we want to preserve?
What can we improve?
What are we hoping the next generation will look like?

We Breed for the Whole Rottweiler
For us, a Rottweiler isn’t just about a big head, heavy bone or an impressive photograph. We want dogs with the qualities that make the Rottweiler what it is — sound structure, stable temperament, health, character, working ability and the correct breed type. A beautiful Rottweiler that doesn’t have the right temperament isn’t enough. Likewise, a dog with a great pedigree isn’t automatically the right dog to breed from. It’s about putting all the pieces together.

Our dogs aren’t something we simply keep for breeding. They are part of our everyday lives. We invest heavily in their care, nutrition, veterinary requirements, training and general wellbeing.
